Travel and accommodation for nurses during COVID-19

We’re thankful for all nurses who are continuing to work to support clients during this difficult time. We know that many of you are making sacrifices of your own to protect your families, one being staying away from home.

Accommodation

Many hotel chains remain open for nursing professionals who need to stay away from home whilst working during the pandemic. Remember, you can gain at least a 5% discount on stays with Travelodge through the Scottish Nursing Guild. Read more here.

Parking

Free parking for key workers through JustPark!
JustPark launched an appeal for people and businesses to offer their driveways and car parks for healthcare staff to park free. The response was overwhelming! Over 10,000 spaces are available to healthcare staff throughout the UK, via the JustPark app and website. If you’re unable to park onsite at a hospital, check out the JustPark website to see who in the local community is willing to support you. Click here for more information.

Travel

Please remember the following things before you leave for every shift:

  • ID badge – you will need this not only for when you arrive on shift but also to show to local enforcement officers if you’re stopped.
  • Keyworker letter – you can download this from the FAQs section in the Quick Nurse app or alternatively, please request this from your local call centre team. This will be emailed to you and you can show a digital copy or print one out (if you have access to a printer at home).
