#10kForNurses 2018

Having witnessed first-hand the incredible difference the Cavell Nurses’ Trust has made to the lives of nurses, midwives and HCAs across the UK – five Thornbury and Guild employees decided to take part in the annual #10kfornurses challenge.

On the 13th October, our brave, but slightly crazy heroes travelled across to Snowdonia with some of our friends from Espirita, to take on one of the UK’s highest peaks – Mount Snowdon.

Unfortunately Snowdon wasn’t the only challenge they had to tackle. Some of you may recall that on this day Storm Callum arrived in the UK, passing through North Wales just as our heroes were a short 3km from the top of Mount Snowdon. After experiencing 70mph+ winds and spending 10 minutes holding onto a not-so-stable fence for dear life, it became too dangerous to complete the trek.

One broken finger, a few blisters and some bruises were collected along the way but the team held it together and walked over 10K for every nurse, midwife and HCA who goes the extra mile for us.

Between them, they smashed their fundraising target, raising a total of £1,083.50.

A huge congratulations to the Thornbury & Guild 10k team – Harveen, Sandie, Teri, Rob, Becky and not forgetting, Thornbury Nurse Leigh and his dog Alan.
