We work with the NHS and private hospitals in Scotland

In recent years, delayed discharge, also known as bed blocking, has increased pressures on NHS and private hospitals to deliver a consistent and high-quality service to patients who require care in a hospital setting. At the Scottish Nursing Guild, we believe it is important for hospitals to access support in ensuring immediate hospital discharge to patients who can recover comfortably at home or in the community.

In addition, we can also support our hospital clients in providing recovery at home services, allowing patients to recover with suitable clinical care, at home, alleviating pressures on hospital wards. We have a proven track record of working with NHS and private hospitals in supporting hospital discharge and reducing bed blocking.

If you or a relative are awaiting hospital discharge and can be discharged with appropriate care in place, we can provide nurses and carers at short notice to get you home sooner with the care that you need. We can provide care from four hours through to 24 hr care seven days per week.

Case study

A client of ours had spent more time than necessary in hospital because their local authority was struggling to set up a suitable package of care, due to their various clinical complexities. Our Case Manager visited them in hospital and liaised with all relevant medical professionals and the local authority to expedite their discharge home. We set up the initial care package and care team and our client was home within a couple of days. We continued to support them until a long-term care provider was sourced and ready to take over.
