Client Testimonials

All the carers have been excellent. They have been knowledgeable, caring & attentive. The carers listened to us & took on board our advice. As a worried family this has meant a lot. Every interaction we have had with the carers has been positive.

“We required assistance to care for my father after he received an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Initially, this was effectively a companion to help him stay as active as possible within his circumstances. SNG did a fantastic job of matching Dad and his requirements and personality with their staff, and they went out of their way to source additional carers as his needs progressed.

We eventually moved on to physical care and we cannot commend highly enough the staff for their professionalism and compassion. It’s important to note that they considered my mother as much of a client as my father and were enormously respectful of that relationship and her role.

We provided 1:1 complex nursing care for a young service user, requiring at home invasive ventilation, tracheostomy, peg feeds, bowel and supra pubic catheter care.

“Our service user trusts that SNG staff will be competent and skilled in their specific clinical needs, something that other providers cannot always guarantee. The Community Team are efficient, helpful and prompt in responding to requests.

Case Manager

We provided 1:1 carer cover for a frail, elderly lady with reduced mobility, rheumatoid arthritis and hypertension. Our carers assisted with all activities of daily living, light meal preparation, assistance to access the community and companionship.

“SNG provides us with certainty at short notice. This is key for families, especially when health situations can change and deteriorate so quickly. The feedback I have had from my Aunt is that the carers have gone the extra mile every time to make sure she is comfortable and she has also really enjoyed their company. I would rate SNG’s service 5 out of 5 stars. From booking carers to resolving issues, the company has been first class. Even when we left decisions to the very last minute, SNG were able to look after us.

‘’I would really appreciate if you could thank and also recognise the excellent work that one of your SNG staff nurses is delivering. Katie looked after me at the start of her night shift in Ballykelly Hospital. She was very professional and conscientious in her work. She had great attention to detail and was very helpful throughout. Her clinical skills were excellent, and she had a very pleasant bedside manner. She also had excellent communication skills. It was a pleasure being nursed by such a competent staff nurse.

I am a Senior Specialist Nurse and Staff Nurse and naturally I would judge others by my own professional standards. In this case, Katie exceeded these in all aspects and I feel it is only appropriate for her to be credited and recognised for excellent practice. If all nurses were at the same standard as her, the entire healthcare system would be a much more pleasant environment for both staff and patients.’’

Patient supported by SNG nurse

‘’We had to call at the last minute for a nurse to spend the night with my husband, who had come home from hospital for end-of-life care. He was having difficulty with pain control and breathing, and Jo made sure he had a comfortable night. I have rarely met such a kind and caring nurse who obviously excelled in her profession.

This made a huge difference to our family’s stress of seeing him in pain. She was also very reassuring to me and our two sons. I shall never forget her, and I wanted to thank her personally.’’

Wife of service user

‘’Stephen was a pleasure to work with, very hard working, uses his initiative and has a really lovely manner with the patients. He really did go above and beyond to fulfil his role and was a great help to us.’’

Nurse in charge, Hospital client

“Nicola was amazing and one of the best agency workers we have had on the ward. She was so quick in noticing a patient had gone into cardiac arrest, within 5 seconds she had noticed and took the appropriate steps to save his life – if it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t be here. We all worked great as a team, and she is always welcome back to the ward’’

‘’I would just like to pass on that the staff that have been at Grove lately have been absolutely excellent. We are all quick enough to pass on negative experiences, but not positive.’’

Residential Manager

‘’I was co-ordinating a busy area of the department, with Guild nurse Eve as my support nurse, and I have to say that she was really excellent and professional to work with. She didn’t require any prompting to complete tasks, she recognised patient deterioration (and we had some very sick patients that day) and her person-centred care and communication were top notch.

I was speaking with the senior charge nurses and we would always have Eve back in a heartbeat to work in the department, as her skills, high quality care and compassion are really what we need in such a busy environment.’’

A&E Charge Nurse, Hospital Client

“From the first contact to the last with Scottish Nursing Guild we had the most professional and kindest experience you can imagine. Having caring, empathetic staff come out to spend time with mum was fantastic. Mum unfortunately was losing her sight and had been registered blind and so her care needs changed over the time we spent with SNG. We could relax knowing that mum would not just have a visit but that she could really look forward to the company, the chat and the care that each and every visit provided. This was not just a nursing visit – they helped mum cook, bake, choose clothes, wash and style her hair as well as support her in attending hospital appointments.

In addition, every contact I had with the team leader was so supportive and so caring. Organising shifts was easy and really responsive. My sister and I felt the worry and the guilt lift knowing that mum really enjoyed and looked forward to the SNG staff coming.

I cannot recommend Scottish Nursing Guild highly enough. When mum decided that it was time to move into a care home, she knew that she would really miss ‘her girls’ visiting.”
